Thanatos and the House at the End of the World, Part II
“You give that back! That doesn’t belong to you! It’s not yours! It belongs to her! My Huntress, not you!”
“You give that back! That doesn’t belong to you! It’s not yours! It belongs to her! My Huntress, not you!”
“Well, aren’t you just the cutest little thing,” she says, pushing off the wall and walking over.
“What is a girl like you doing out at this late hour?” the man smirks, stepping closer to me. He picks me up by my arm and I smell his breath.
“You are more of an idiot than I thought if you think you can fight, or even hurt, Zeus. You would never win, no matter who is on your side.”
“You can learn a lot observing from others,” I replied, ignoring his comment. “If only mortals learned from their past mistakes, their lives would be easier.”
Before I could form my next thought, a hand grabbed me by my throat in a painfully tight grip.
I rested my forehead against him and whispered, “I will fix you, my Light, but I will also make sure whoever did this is punished.”
“She was stealing, and there are others here who are involved, too. You need to shut the entire place down until you find everyone,” I whispered.
The scarlet crimson of my lips curve in a small smile, my gaze locking with hers and my head tipping to the side.
Another sacrifice is required; we came here to get it. While you have been down here with me, the mission was completed inside the mirrored mountain.
She poked me in the chest. “You will be there, or I will send Dad to get you to make sure you go. Or better yet, I’ll send Mother.”
“You are your mother’s ‘Little Victory’. Live and be loved. I shall be watching over you.”
His heart’s desire practically screams at me, to find someone to love, who loves me.
I expected a lot of things from my grandson, most of them were negative, but I wasn’t prepared for what he said. Eros met my eyes and said, “No.”
Placing my hand gently on my guardian’s back, I could feel him shaking. “Don’t be afraid,” I told him. “I won’t let anything happen to you while I’m here.”
