Titans Rising – A Simple Task
“We’ve known each other for a while, Hera, and now you, like everyone else, will suffer.”
“We’ve known each other for a while, Hera, and now you, like everyone else, will suffer.”
A wedding tune. My eyes go wide, and I glance around waiting for another god to step up to what I now realize is an altar.
“Yes, I do. I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” I whisper to him.
His arms were wrapped around her as she cradled the baby. They smiled, staring lovingly into each other’s eyes before sharing a kiss.
I smiled indulgently and wandered over to the table to gather a dozen candies for him. Wrapping them in a small parcel of soft cloth, I secured it with the last remnant of the red ribbon and presented the token to him.
Apparently my team had been losing…badly. So I did what any self-respecting Goddess would do in this situation. I cheated.
“Look, you’re not taking me back to those boring Gods who tried to stop me. Move out of my way before I smite you like those stupid mortals.”
“So, this is what it is like to die,” I thought, as numbness and cold seeped into her body, overtaking the excruciating pain that throbbed there only moments before.
Anger bristled the hairs on my arms as I felt my rage start to swell. Parts of the tile near my feet started to corrode as my temper flared.
“Performance issues?” she said, “Or are you always show with no go?” This statement garnered some light laughter from the patrons of the eatery.
He put his hand on top of mine and gently squeezed. “He’s still alive, little one, don’t fret.”
“Ohhh, well excuse me for dying! I mean, look at those two assholes in robes over there. What is that…a prison?”
Atë’s face darkened with warning. “Don’t lecture me, freak. What would running in there and comforting her accomplish? Hm?”
“No one calls me a bitch.” I pointed my finger at her and whispered, “Boom,” and her body instantly fried with a lightning bolt.
I know they’re with loving families; yet, how will they be restored to their human selves? How can I do that, if I don’t even know where they actually live?!
