My eyes glow as I see their reflection in hers. The shelves next to us shake as I release some of my power. A child. Who messes with a child’s brain in such a manner?
I ran my fingertips over the golden edge of the sundial, hesitating. I hadn’t seen my siblings in so long that even though I was terrified at what had just happened to me, I couldn’t bring myself to visit them.
My blind rage and vengeance never took into account what the Titans would have done to them. I didn’t care. Why would I? I had my eyes set on one target, and one target only.
He had taken a piece of my shadows, intertwined them with his own, using them to create the seal on the door. He had used my power against me, and I hadn’t noticed until now.
Chaos. Disorder. Confusion. These are things I enjoy. I don’t just do them because that’s my lot in life. It happens naturally, and they look at me as if I’m a monster.
I had only used an eighth of my shadows, a part of me now would always be here, watching over her. At least I could take comfort in that.
“I have done you wrong, and for that, you sought to repay a debt. I deserve your hatred, but I would beg you for your forgiveness.”
I knew him. He raised me. I knew where to hit him, what hurt the most, and what it would take to wound him.
“When the first drop of rain falls from the sky, you will be forgotten. My family will be safe, with you a forgotten memory.”
Maybe I’ll come visit her while she’s down here. Wait – what? Am I admitting I wouldn’t mind spending more time with her?
“Ok, fine, I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m up to something, but I also wouldn’t necessarily say I’m not avoiding something, either.”
“I am Erebus, Primordial God of Darkness and Shadows. I have more power in my little pinky than you will ever have.”
Eros shot Clio a look, his brows furrowed as he playfully nudged her. “Why can’t she light Pan’s tail on fire? Payback seems like a perfect justification.”
“I know that. I would never hurt Clio, but I also don’t think I should be the one you’re worried about, Starlight.”
